Health & wellbeing
To make communities healthier, the Partnership is involved in a range of local, county and national projects. The introduction by the HSE of primary care teams in the area is supported by a Partnership facilitated consultation process; local food initiatives get a helping hand; together with Pfizer and Business in the Community an exciting new “train the trainer” well-being project is being implemented and Healthy Food for All, the all-island organisation tackling food poverty, receives ongoing management support.
A lot of the health & well-being work is integrated in other projects. For instance, the Flexible Training Unit includes training in health and food aspects, the 6-12 after school project promotes healthy eating and an active lifestyle and the Managing Unemployment project supports sports and leisure activities.
The Partnership coordinates Suicide Action West Tallaght, a multi-agency network established in response to suicide and self harm in the local area. The work includes awareness raising about the issue of suicide; training programmes around positive mental health, suicide prevention and self harm; bereavement support and a suicide and self harm specific counselling service delivered by Pieta House in West Tallaght. The Partnership also works with the HSE and Headstrong (The Centre for Youth Mental Health) to improve mental health services and outcomes for young people aged 12-25 years in Dublin 24.
