What we do

Jobstown 6-10 Project

The Jobstown 6-10 Project is a year-round after-school and summer project for young people between 6 and 12 from the Jobstown area of Tallaght. The project offers a range of activities that compliment and maximise the use of facilities and resources in the area.

Young people between 6 and 10 are at a very challenging time of their lives and structured leisure activities are crucial to keep them focused and off the streets. As there are very few affordable leisure activities for children in Jobstown, the 6-10 project is very important: it provides activities for children from an age group for whom little else is available.

The project has two key work areas: a summer programme during the school holidays and after-school programmes for children during the school year.

After-Schools Programme
The 6-10 project is currently running 4 after school clubs; Sports, Art & Crafts, First Tee Golf, and Dance & Fitness. The clubs are run by local qualified tutors who encourage young people to keep fit, eat healthy food and learn to socialise without using destructive behaviour. The Partnership is currently developing a special programme to incorporate life and social skills in sports activities.

The Summer Programme
Every summer for the last 6 years, the project has organised 6 to 8 different trips for 6-10 yr olds from Jobstown and provided transport. Young people have an opportunity to go to places that otherwise might be hard to get to, with a particular emphasis on outdoor activities.
