What we do

Managing unemployment

We want to make unemployment a little bit easier. People who have (just) lost their job have specific information needs and have to make significant changes to their daily life. The Partnership develops a range of initiatives to “manage” being unemployed and stay linked to the labour market.

Examples of these initiatives are Information Cards with details of relevant services, which are handed out by trained volunteers in the Tallaght and Nutgrove offices of the Department of Social and Family Affairs. Another example is Link2B Active, our work in cooperation with South Dublin Sports Partnership to develop special offers for the use of sports and leisure facilities for people who are unemployed. We are also looking into the development of social networks for unemployed people, we are looking into the feasibility of a time bank through which people can exchange their skills and we have developed an  information card (click here and here) about the rules about volunteering while out of work.
